Republicans in the US Congress fear a shutdown.

Republicans in the US House of Representatives fear that rank-and-file conservatives will support a complete government shutdown.

House Speaker Mike Johnson will have to choose an agreement with Democrats to avoid a partial shutdown, or side with the most conservative Republicans.

One Republican said there were concerns within the party about the lack of a plan and morale was “very low.” As the portal notes, moderate Republicans believe that shutdowns reduce their chances of re-election.

As Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer previously said, American legislators were unable to reach bipartisan agreements over the weekend to continue funding the work of the US government in order to avoid its shutdown.

According to Schumer, the shutdown, which may partially begin in the United States as early as March, will jeopardize American security and the economy.
