Duchess Meghan is a favourite, Queen Elizabeth highly appreciated grandson’s choice and handed over a key job to Meghan Markle, Daily Star reported on Monday.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will become the patrons of the Queen’s Young Leaders programme to Buckingham Palace this summer. the young generation of the royals is continuing the role started by the Elizabeth II during her lifetime of service to the Commonwealth nations.
The Duke of Sussex became the patron of the programme in 2018, which sees “exceptional” young people receive honours for the work they do in their respective Commonwealth nations. Duchess Meghan – whose relationship with the Queen is getting stronger day by day – will take over the role from the monarch, which is said to be a job that has been close to her heart since it started five years ago.
Meghan Markle will attend the reception for the first time, as the newly-wed couple prepare to continue the work of Queen. Prince Harry expressed his feelings about such a responsible task from his grandmother. Speaking about his new patronage, Harry said:
“I have really enjoyed meeting so many of them over the past four years and their passion and understanding always leaves me hugely optimistic about the future.”
Meghan seems to have gained the trust of the Queen after the duo were spotted giggling together at the opening of the Mersey Gateway Bridge in Cheshire earlier this month.
The pair were also spotted attending the Royal Ascot together on the Queen’s first day of her favourite event of the year.
