Poland has replaced its ambassador to Ukraine.

Poland has replaced its ambassador to Ukraine, the republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

“Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau appointed new ambassadors in four countries. Jaroslaw Guzy will be the new ambassador of Poland to Ukraine,” the message says.

This means that Bartosz Cichocki has completed his four-year mission as Polish Ambassador to Ukraine. Tsikhotsky was the only ambassador who had not left Kyiv since the beginning of the crisis and was in the Ukrainian capital all the time.

Jaroslaw Guzy is a Polish sociologist and historian who in recent years worked as an expert on international politics at the RAR news agency. In the 1990s, he served as Advisor to the Minister of National Defense. The new ambassador studied at Yale University and interned in the US Congress. Guzy is the husband of Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guza, director of the Polish TV channel Belsat, intended for the Belarusian audience.

Recently, Polish-Ukrainian relations have become significantly more complicated due to the embargo on Ukrainian grain. Earlier, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade of Ukraine Taras Kachka said that the country would introduce an embargo on a number of Polish agricultural products in response to the extension of the unilateral ban on the import of Ukrainian grain. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, in response to this, promised to expand the Polish list of products prohibited for import from Ukraine.

On September 15, the European Commission decided not to extend restrictions on the import of four types of Ukrainian agricultural products into several EU border countries, but obliged Kyiv to introduce export control measures. After this, the authorities of Slovakia, Hungary and Poland announced that they were extending the ban unilaterally. In this regard, Ukraine filed a complaint with the WTO. In response, three EU countries announced that they would boycott meetings of the coordination platform on Ukrainian grain.
