Paris metro unions have threatened to strike.

Parisian transport unions have threatened a strike if the right-wing National Rally party wins the parliamentary elections, Europe 1 radio reports.

According to media reports, the Solidaires trade union called on employees of the Autonomous Agency for Transport of Paris (RATP) to strikes and demonstrations if, according to the results of the second round of elections on July 7, Marine Le Pen’s party will receive an absolute majority of seats in parliament.

Solidaires believes that Le Pen’s party is “the enemy of the workers” and is dividing the state.

Earlier, the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) trade union, together with Solidaires, called for the creation of a “united front against the right” and the introduction of “urgent social justice measures.” Trade unions called for a demonstration against the National Rally on July 15. The CGT openly expressed support for the coalition of left-wing parties, the New Popular Front.

At the same time, the trade union “Power of Workers” (FO-Groupe RATP), which has the largest number of members in the transport sector, as well as the trade union UNSA Groupe RATP, called on citizens to vote, but remain neutral.

In the June 9 elections to the European Parliament in France, the right-wing National Rally party was more than twice as ahead of the coalition of supporters of President Macron, gaining 31.36% of the vote. Macron subsequently announced the dissolution of the National Assembly, the lower house of the French parliament, and the holding of early parliamentary elections in two rounds – June 30 and July 7.

According to polls, 37% of French people are ready to vote for the National Rally party, while the presidential coalition may receive less than 20% of the votes.
