Nine people have died and 74 have been injured over the past week in the aftermath of rains, floods and an earthquake that have affected most of Afghanistan’s provinces, Hasibullah Sheikhani, spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Disaster Management, said.

According to him, 23 out of 34 provinces of Afghanistan were affected by the elements (among the affected provinces are Farah, Faryab, Balkh, Uruzgan, Kunar, Nuristan, Laghman, Baghlan and others).

“Unfortunately, nine people died and 74 were injured,” Sheikhani said, adding that 1,700 houses were completely or partially destroyed.
