NATO headquarters exercise Regex 2024 has begun in Moldova.

NATO headquarters exercises Regex 2024 have begun in Moldova, within the framework of which seminars on military training are organized in accordance with Western standards, the press service of the Moldovan Ministry of Defense reported on Monday.

Tabletop exercise Regex 2024 consists of organizing several seminars throughout the current year. The first seminar took place from February 16 to March 1, the second from April 22 to 26, 2024.

“Today the third seminar as part of the regional headquarters exercise Regex 2024 started… The exercise is organized with the support of the NATO Allied Forces Command in Naples (Italy) and is aimed at training the military according to Western standards for planning and conducting exercises, crisis management, strengthening and assessing the level of interoperability of forces in a multinational environment,” a message published on the Ministry of Defense website says.

It is specified that the event will be held from May 20 to 24 at the Agency for Science and Military Memory with the participation of about 30 representatives from NATO partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Jordan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Pakistan , Tunisia, Egypt, Malta, the African Union (Ghana and Benin), as well as staff officers of the national army of Moldova.

Last Saturday, a Boeing C-17 military aircraft from the North Carolina Air National Guard delivered military personnel to Chisinau to participate in the Peace Shield joint military exercise with Moldova. The day before, other training maneuvers Swift Response-2024 (“Quick Response-2024”) were completed in Moldova; they were held under the leadership of the American command in Europe and Africa. The maneuvers were attended by 400 military personnel of the Moldova motorized infantry brigade, the Molniya special forces battalion of the National Army and military personnel of the 82nd US Airborne Division. Two US military C-130 Hercules aircraft were also involved.


According to the Constitution of Moldova, the republic has a neutral status, but since 1994 the country has been cooperating with NATO under an individual partnership plan. In addition, with the coming to power of the Action and Solidarity party, whose informal leader is President Maia Sandu, the country began to conduct frequent exercises with the participation of military personnel from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, and Romania.
