More than half of Slovak residents did not support aid to Ukraine, the survey showed.

60% of Slovaks express disagreement with the provision of military assistance to Ukraine from the EU, according to a Eurobarometer survey.

“60% of Slovaks do not agree that the European Union finances and supplies military equipment to Ukraine. 34% of Slovaks expressed a positive attitude towards military assistance, which is 3% less than in the spring,” Slovak media report.

It is noted that residents of states neighboring Slovakia expressed a higher level of approval for financing and supplies of military equipment to Ukraine.

Data collection in Slovakia was carried out by MNFORCE from October 23 to November 10 on a sample of 1006 respondents.

In December, at the summit, Hungary expectedly blocked approval of an increase in the EU’s multi-year budget of 66 billion euros, which includes 50 billion for macro-financial assistance to Ukraine for the period from 2024 to 2027. The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, said that EU leaders will return to this issue at the beginning of 2024.

Earlier, Republicans blocked the US Senate from considering the White House’s request for funds for Ukraine, Israel and other needs – a total of $106 billion, of which $61 billion is intended for Ukraine.

The House of Representatives is also in no hurry to approve the corresponding project. Both houses of Congress must approve the request. Republicans, in exchange for concessions on the bill, are demanding changes in approaches to protecting the border with Mexico; the White House warned that there are several weeks left, after which the possibilities of assistance to Ukraine will be exhausted, there are no guarantees of further support.
