Microsoft says Iranian-linked hacker groups are allegedly using fake news sites to interfere in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, a charge Iran has previously denied. a report on this is posted on the company’s website.

“Today we are sharing data on activity we are monitoring that increasingly indicates Iran intends to influence this year’s U.S. presidential election,” the report said.

Microsoft says Iran-linked hacking groups are monitoring current trends on topics affecting the election and allegedly disseminating messages to influence American opinion, especially in so-called swing states. Secondly, they conduct operations to collect information about election campaigns in order, as the corporation claims, to further influence the elections.

Thus, Microsoft claims that hackers allegedly create fake sites where they post materials on topics important to Americans; artificial intelligence technologies are used to write texts. The corporation also said that with the help of the hacked email of a former official, hackers allegedly send links to high-ranking American officials through which they steal information about their online activities. For example, the hackers then tried to log into the mail of an unnamed “former US presidential candidate“, the report stated.

Using hacked accounts, hackers also collect information about the defense sector, American satellites and the healthcare sector, the report’s authors said.
