Polling stations opened in France on Sunday morning for the first round of snap elections for the National Assembly, the lower house of the French parliament.

Macron and his wife cast their vote in the elections to the French National Assembly at a polling station in the coastal town of Le Touquet in the north of the country, where their family estate is located.

As the French Ministry of Internal Affairs previously reported, the turnout at the elections at 12:00 local time was 25.9%.
