Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze called the decision of the White House administration to cancel his invitation to a reception with US President Joe Biden frivolous.

Earlier, Georgian media reported that the White House administration removed Kobakhidze and members of the Georgian delegation from the list of invitations to a reception with Biden. Later, officials in Tbilisi confirmed this information. Kobakhidze is in New York to participate in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

“I can’t make any special comments about this. It’s not serious. They sent an invitation 3 days ago and then canceled it. It was a kind of humanitarian act in favor of the opposition, although it has no practical effect for the opposition. It will be difficult for me further comment on this topic,” Kobakhidze told reporters after speaking at the general political discussion of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
