On the occasion of his state visit to the United States, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida presented President Joe Biden with a set of gifts, which also included a selection of Nintendo merchandise, including plush figures, cups and plates with images of the main characters of the famous game Super Mario.

According to a press release from the Japanese Foreign Ministry, gifts from Kishida to Biden included a pair of lacquered Wajima-nuri coffee cups from Ishikawa Prefecture, a pen also made using the Wajima-nuri technique, a set of Okinawan coffee beans, and an assortment of merchandise from Nintendo company.

Judging by the photo, Biden was given four plush figures of the brothers Mario and Luigi, Princess Peach and Yossi the dinosaur, a set of ceramic plates and cups, a yellow T-shirt and a set of bags with images of the game’s characters.

The wife of the American president, Jill Biden, was presented with a set of Takaoka copper jewelry, which is a traditional craft for the Japanese Toyama Prefecture.

Kishida is currently on a state visit to the United States. On April 10, a bilateral summit of leaders of Japan and the United States will take place, and on April 11, Kishida will address the American Congress and take part in a trilateral summit of leaders of Japan, the United States and the Philippines.
