We all expected Donald Trump to make a scene sooner or later. Seeing that the GOP nomination is not quite in the bag, the mogul started a war with his Republican rival, Ted Cruz. Words like “liar” or “unstable” were common during the businessman’s speeches, says ABC News.
Harsh words from Donald Trump
It looks like Donald Trump lost it as soon as Cruz said about him that he is pro-abortion, against the Second Amendment and would appoint a liberal judge to replace the recently deceased Scalia. Right away, Trump dismissed Cruz’s statements and said that the Texas Senator is an “unstable person” and a “liar”. He also threatened to sue Cruz over his eligibility to be president if he didn’t “take down his false ads and retract his lies”, confirms the same source.
“For instance, he talks about me being against the Second Amendment. I am the strongest person running in favor of the Second Amendment. I’m a member of the NRA, my sons have been long-term members of the NRA and they’re extraordinary shots.”, said Donald Trump during a press conference in Hanahan, South Carolina.
The ‘natural born citizen’ issue, mentioned again
Trump’s reaction opened the door for Cruz to claim that the mogul “apparently lost it”, acting like a child that lost his candy. “He’ll apologize but I don’t want an apology after the election, I want the apology before. If he doesn’t, I’m going to bring a lawsuit because in my opinion, based on what I’ve learned over the last two or three days from very top lawyers, he doesn’t even have the right to serve as president or even run as president. He was born in Canada. So I will bring that lawsuit if he doesn’t apologize.”, Donald Trump continued to say in his war against Cruz.
The Texas Senator’s citizenship seems to be Trump’s main issue. The businessman even claimed that he would do Cruz a favor, by suing him before the Democrats do. “If Cruz ever got the nomination, the Democrats are going to file the lawsuit. So in a sense I’m doing him a favor because I’m filing it early.”
Is Cruz a favorite for the South Carolina primary?
Since Trump started his campaign, not a week has passed without him arguing with someone. Now, Cruz believes that the mogul’s reaction is based on the fact that his “internal poll numbers in South Carolina must be plummeting following that debate.”
I don’t think that really matters when it comes to Trump’s need for public attention. His childish behavior with “liar, liar” is only normal if we look at how Trump’s campaign went down, with him speaking out loud and claiming that he’s the only one that speaks the truth, without any restrictions. Maybe if he stays quiet for a moment, Americans would actually realize that they need a true leader at the White House, not a clown in disguise. “The stakes are too serious for continuing like it’s a circus”, said Cruz, according to ABC News. For the moment, we must agree with the Texas Senator.
