Israel refused to admit responsibility for blowing up pagers in Lebanon.

Israel refused to admit responsibility for blowing up pagers in Lebanon.

Israel’s permanent representative to the UN, Danny Danon, refused to admit that his country was behind the bombing of pagers in Lebanon, saying that Israel prefers diplomacy.

“We do not comment on the specific attacks that you mentioned, but I can tell you that we will do everything possible to fight these terrorists, to minimize civilian casualties, but we prefer the diplomatic route,” Danon told reporters.

In different areas of Lebanon on September 17 and 18, communications equipment, including pagers and walkie-talkies, were detonated. According to official data, 37 people were killed and more than 3 thousand were injured. It is not yet known what caused the simultaneous explosion of thousands of devices.

Hezbollah and the Lebanese authorities blamed Israel for the incident. Israeli authorities have not yet confirmed or denied their involvement.
