Israeli fighter jets attacked Hezbollah targets in eastern and southern Lebanon and patrolled over Beirut at the time of the funeral of the former secretary General of the Shiite movement Hassan Nasrullah, who was killed by the IDF, the Lebanese national news agency NNA reported.
⠀
“Israel carried out raids on several areas on the outskirts of Budaya in the Bekaa in eastern Lebanon and in Al-Baysariya in southern Lebanon,” the material says.
⠀
In addition, Israeli fighter jets were recorded flying at low altitude over the funeral site of Nasrullah and high-ranking Hezbollah commander Hashem Safiyeddin in the Lebanese capital Beirut.
⠀
Nasrullah was killed in an Israeli bombing of the movement’s headquarters in southern Beirut last September.
⠀
At the end of November 2024, with the mediation of the United States and France, a ceasefire agreement was concluded between Lebanon and Israel for a period of 60 days. Under the terms of the agreement, the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers must occupy the entire southern border of the country, pushing the Shiite Hezbollah movement beyond the Litani River.
⠀
Israel, in turn, was supposed to withdraw all its troops from southern Lebanon by January 27, but later, with the mediation of the United States, Beirut agreed to extend the terms of the agreement until February 18. After that, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced that the IDF would remain at five positions in the buffer zone.

An official funeral ceremony for Hezbollah leaders Hassan Nasrullah and Hashem Safiyeddin is taking place in Beirut on Sunday.
⠀
The ceremony is taking place on the territory of the Kamil Chamoun Sports Town in Beirut, which can accommodate about 80,000 people; residents and official delegations have been arriving there since early morning, filling both the complex itself and the surrounding streets.
