Poland does not take seriously the proposal of the European Commission on the maximum price for gas, Anna Moskva, Minister of Climate and Environment of the country, told reporters.
⠀
The European Commission proposes to set a cap on natural gas prices at 275 euros per megawatt-hour (about 95 cubic meters).
⠀
“We are still waiting for the final offer, and once again we came here today for this offer. We consider the offer that appeared the day before yesterday as a joke. It’s hard to take it seriously,” Moskva said.
⠀
“It was presented at the last moment and absolutely deviates from what the member states offered. The price offered there is unsatisfactory, as it is higher than today’s prices on the market,” the Polish minister explained.
⠀
According to her, most EU countries will not agree to such a proposal. “I don’t know who today would be able to support this proposal, it seems to me that no one,” Moskva said.

The volume of gas is usually measured in Europe in megawatts per hour (MWh), while in Russia it is measured in cubic meters. The difference is due to the fact that the European approach is based on the amount of energy that can be generated from the supplied gas. So, the higher the calorific value or calorific value of gas, the smaller its volume is needed to boil, for example, a liter of water, and the more expensive it is. In Europe, this approach is considered more objective.
