The Force of the Workers (FO) trade union, which defends the interests of some Paris airport employees, announced a strike on the opening day of the Olympics on July 26, demanding the payment of bonuses, BFMTV reported.
⠀
“FO, which represents 11.57% of the staff at the management company Paris Airports, has filed a notice of strike, considering that the wage agreement signed with management last week resulted in only “partial and modest progress,” the broadcaster reported.
⠀
The strike is scheduled to take place from 5 a.m. on July 26 until 7 a.m. on July 27.
⠀
The union demands a more significant increase in wages, as well as the payment of an “Olympic prize” of one thousand euros, and not 300 euros, as proposed by the company’s management.
⠀
Last week, leading Paris airport unions called off a strike planned for Wednesday, nine days before the Olympics open, following an agreement with management.
⠀
From 6:30 p.m. to midnight on Friday, for security reasons for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, which will be held on the Seine in Paris, authorities established a “temporary exclusion zone” for air traffic with a radius of 150 km around the capital. As a result, air traffic will be disrupted at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, as well as at Beauvais airport. It is noted that airlines received a corresponding warning in 2023 and adapted their flight programs.
⠀
The Olympics in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8.
