Several thousand people protested Saturday against the government of French President Emmanuel Macron and his appointed Prime Minister Michel Barnier in Paris.

A column of several thousand demonstrators marched from Place de la Bastille to Place de la Nation. The demonstration was organized by left-wing parties, youth and feminist organizations.
⠀
A number of participants chanted: “Macron resign!” Representatives of the “yellow vest” movement carried a banner demanding “tax and social justice.” Many posters said: “Why did you vote?” Participants expressed condemnation of the appointment of a prime minister who came from the Republican party, which showed poor results in the last parliamentary elections.
⠀
The demonstration took place without provocation.
After this event, others are planned. Thus, the French trade union General Confederation of Labor (CGT) called for a strike and demonstration on October 1 demanding the abolition of pension reform and higher wages.
⠀
This is already the second action of the left against the government. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than 100 thousand French people demonstrated on September 7, of which 26 thousand were in Paris.

On Thursday, Barnier presented Macron with a list of 38 candidates for the new cabinet, most of them from the presidential coalition. The Prime Minister’s office promised that the new Cabinet would be approved “by Sunday.”
