In London, 35 environmental activists were detained for protesting on the road.

London police detained 35 activists of the environmental movement Just Stop Oil, who staged a protest against oil and gas production, thereby impeding traffic on one of the major roads in the west of the city, the department itself reported on Wednesday.

“For the second day in a row this week we responded to a call related to a number of Just Stop Oil activists on the road… 35 arrests,” police said on social media X.

A press release from the environmental movement itself notes that about 45 people took part in the demonstration. The protesters, armed with large banners with the symbols of the organization, staged a “slow march” on the road, thereby slowing down traffic.

The day before, London police announced they had filed charges against 31 Just Stop Oil activists in connection with a protest in the square near the British Parliament.

In 2022, Just Stop Oil activists glued themselves to paintings in galleries, threw paint on the buildings of various organizations, and organized various protests and demonstrations that led to traffic disruptions in central London. . In 2023, environmental activists continued their protests. In April, they even disrupted the first round matches of the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield by staining the table with orange powder paint. After this, they continued to interrupt various sporting events, and also repeatedly threw orange paint on university buildings across the country.
