In Germany, they announced the absence of information about the leakage of radioactive substances at the ZNPP

The German authorities do not have information about the leakage of radioactive substances at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant as a result of shelling, but the situation is “unclear and dangerous” and requires the dispatch of IAEA specialists there. German Minister for the Environment and Nuclear Safety Steffi Lemke

“There is no information that in the light of the recent shelling there was a leak of radioactive substances at the nuclear power plant,” she said.

According to the minister, there is no acute threat to the local population yet. Nevertheless, Lemke expressed particular concern about the situation around the Zaporizhzhya NPP and spoke in favor of sending IAEA experts there.

“Independent experts of the IAEA should be given access to have objective and relevant information about the security situation on the ground, as is also required by the foreign ministers of the G7 countries,” Lemke said.

ZNPP is the largest in Europe, it produced a quarter of all electricity in Ukraine. This facility with a capacity of about 6 thousand megawatts consists of six power units. Now the nuclear power plant operates at 70% of its full capacity, since there is an excess of electricity produced in the liberated territory of the Zaporozhye region.
