In Germany, “stones of hunger” appeared on the surface of the shallowed Elbe.

On the surface of the Elbe, which has become shallow due to the heat, in Germany, the “hunger stones” of past centuries have again appeared, warning of a poor harvest.

“As the tide increases, more sections of the riverbed and centuries-old stones with marks become visible on the banks, further limiting the barely possible navigation,” local media write.

Among other places both in Germany and in the Czech Republic, similar stones have recently been discovered near the Dresden Elbe Valley near the Pilnitz Palace. According to Focus, at the moment the level of the river in some places due to drought and heat has reached a critical level of 50 centimeters.

“Stones of hunger” in Germany are called marks and warnings carved on river stones and boulders in different centuries about drought and related famine.

Last year, the German media also reported on the “hungry stones” that had risen above the surface of the shallowed Rhine and Elbe. One of the most famous of these stones, which is located on the territory of the modern Czech Republic, says: “Cry when you see me.”
