Demonstrators at a mass protest outside the government building in Beirut called on the authorities to side with the Hezbollah movement in the fight against Israel.
⠀
The protesters shouted anti-government slogans accusing Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam of colluding with the Israeli authorities.
⠀
“We want the government and the army to protect us and our lands, and not negotiate with the enemy from a position of concessions, sacrificing us and our homeland. The government should primarily pursue the interests of its people, not Israel and other states,” one of the participants in the project action shared her opinion.
⠀
The demonstrators gathered in a tight group at the entrance to the government palace and raised flags of the Hezbollah movement and portraits of Hassan Nasrullah, the leader of the Shiite resistance who died in 2024.
⠀
Reinforced squads of law enforcement officers continue to be on site, while the action is taking place in an organized manner without clashes.
⠀
Earlier on Thursday, a similar mass rally was held outside the Lebanese government building in support of the Hezbollah movement’s struggle against the Israeli army in the south of the country.
