North Korea’s ballistic missiles have flown about 140 kilometers, and their characteristics are being analyzed, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea (JCS) said.
⠀
Earlier it was reported that after 6 a.m., several ballistic missiles were fired from the east coast of the DPRK. The missiles landed near the east coast of the Korean Peninsula, but no flight was recorded over the territory and exclusive economic zone of Japan.
⠀
According to the South Korean military, the launches were recorded around 06.10 from the Sinpo area towards the Sea of Japan (East).
⠀
“The detected North Korean missiles flew about 140 kilometers, and their exact characteristics are currently under detailed analysis by South Korea and the United States,” the committee said.
⠀
It is noted that the intelligence services of the Republic of Korea and the United States monitored the signs of preparation for the launch in advance, and also conducted a close exchange of information with Japan.
⠀
The military stressed that, against the background of a strong united defense position with the United States, they continue to closely monitor the actions of the DPRK and remain ready for an “overwhelming response” to any provocations.
