Amid recent strikes near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi warned that military activity around it could lead to a serious radiation accident, the agency said in a statement.

“IAEA Director General Rafael Gross warns that continued military activity near the Bushehr nuclear power plant, an operating plant with large amounts of nuclear fuel, could lead to a serious radiation accident with harmful consequences for people and the environment in Iran and beyond,” the IAEA wrote on its official page on the X social network.
⠀
Grossi called for an end to attacks on the nuclear power plant and its surroundings, stating that they pose a significant threat to nuclear safety.

On Saturday, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) reported that the Bushehr NPP site came under fire from the United States and Israel, and one of its employees was killed. This was the fourth incident with the Bushehr nuclear power plant since the conflict over Iran began on February 28.
⠀
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran had previously reported three cases of arrivals at the Bushehr NPP: on March 17, 24 and 27. In addition, Iran recorded two attacks on the Natanz nuclear facility on March 1 and 21, and on March 27 on a heavy water production plant in Iran’s Khondab, as well as on a uranium concentrate production plant known as “yellow cake” in Ardakan. The Iranian side blames the United States and Israel for this.
