Greene proposed leaving New York without budget money after the verdict against Trump.

US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican, has proposed depriving New York State, where a jury convicted Trump on all 34 counts of indictment, of federal funding following a guilty verdict in a case of falsifying business records against the former American leader.

“No more federal funding for New York. I call for it. New York should throw out the conviction against Trump. The entire process was illegal. Republicans should not vote to give even a penny to this corrupt state,” Greene wrote on social media X.

Previously, the jury returned a guilty verdict on all 34 counts against Trump in the falsification of business records case. The politician plans to appeal this decision; it does not deprive him of the right to participate in presidential elections. The verdict in the case will be announced on July 11. Trump will be the first former US president to be convicted in a criminal case. At the same time, the Republican National Convention, which will nominate former President Donald Trump, will be held in mid-July.

Trump faces 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with payments to two women, including porn star Stormy Daniels, to keep quiet about their alleged affair. The maximum possible punishment for the totality of charges brought against Trump is 136 years in prison. The ex-president himself declared his innocence and the absence of grounds to initiate a case. Trump believes that the prosecution is only politically motivated and related to his intention to compete for the presidency in 2024.
