German energy company Wintershall Dea will leave Russia

The German energy company Wintershall Dea has decided to leave the Russian market completely, complying with all legal obligations, the company said in a statement.

“The Supervisory Board of Wintershall Dea has approved the board’s decision in principle to withdraw from Russia. As a consequence, Wintershall Dea intends to fully withdraw from Russia in due course, complying with all relevant laws and regulations,” the publication notes.

It is specified that Wintershall Dea expects a total loss from the write-off of Russian assets at the level of about 5.3 billion euros. This includes, in particular, the refusal to participate in Nord Stream AG and WIGA Transport Beteiligungs-GmbH & Co. kg.
