France will increase its military presence in the Pacific region.

France will increase its military presence in the Pacific region.

France will likely reduce its presence in Africa and increase it in the Pacific region, Chief of Staff of the country’s Aerospace Forces, General Stephane Mille, told.

“(France) will probably reduce its forces in Africa in the future… We are covering more and more territory (in the Pacific region),” he said.

He noted that France will not stop supporting counter-terrorism missions in the region; if necessary, the French contingent will be involved “in unforeseen circumstances”, as well as “for a certain period of time for training.”

Earlier, French ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs Hubert Vedrine stated that France should leave African countries where they do not want to see it.
