Four people were killed in a stampede at a music festival in India.

A stampede occurred during a music festival at a university in the city of Cochin in the Indian state of Kerala on Saturday, killing four people and injuring more than 60, the Press Trust of India said, citing police and local authorities.

As the agency notes, the stampede occurred on Saturday evening after festival participants rushed up the stairs into one of the university halls when a downpour suddenly began outside.

“Four students, including two boys and two girls, died,” the agency reports, citing the words of state health minister Veena George.


According to the agency, more than 60 people were hospitalized. It is noted that four more students are in critical condition.
