Denmark has no idea where to get money for military spending

Denmark Prime Minister Mette Fredericksen said that the country’s government does not yet know where to get the money to increase the cost of defense.

Earlier, Fredericksen said that the country would increase defense costs, but it will be difficult and expensive. At the same time, the prime minister did not name specific numbers, how much Denmark
will increase its military expenses.

“The answer is short: we don’t know this yet,” Fredericksen said to the question of where the government would take funds to increase defense expenses.

Currently, Denmark spends about 2.4% of GDP.

Earlier it became known that the Armed Forces of Denmark are in a deplorable state due to the high cost of supporting Ukraine. It was noted that the country will take steps to modernize them, but it will take ten years to take it. It was emphasized that the country lacks equipment and staff, and it can hardly fulfill its obligations, as a result of which the country needs to urgently act due to the “general condition of the armed forces.”
