Congressman: the threat to US national security is not a reason to panic.

The unnamed “threat to national security” that the American establishment is discussing is not a reason to panic, but Congress and the White House need to deal with it in the medium and long term, local media quote Congressman Jim Himes.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan declined to reveal what the matter was about, but promised a briefing on Thursday for congressional leaders who had already received the alert through the House Intelligence Committee.

“People should not panic. This is clear,” The Hill journalist Mikael Schnell quoted Himes, who is on the intelligence committee, on the social network X.

Congress and the administration need to address this in the medium to long term,” he added.

Himes also said the issue was “serious” but it “won’t ruin your Thursday.”

Other media reports that this is likely about Russia’s “destabilizing” capabilities.
