China issues warning after US delegation visits Taiwan

China’s envoy to the UN Zhang Jun said the US should change its policy towards Taiwan.

“They should learn from Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trip. And they should learn to stop going in the wrong direction,” he said.

“Definitely we will continue to do everything in our power to protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity. It also clearly shows that the countermeasures that we have taken in response to such provocative acts are justified and legitimate,” the politician says. Beijing protested and retaliated against Washington by conducting exercises off the coast of the island, announcing sanctions against Pelosi, her relatives and two Taiwanese funds, and imposing trade restrictions. The Chinese Foreign Ministry placed Washington and Taipei responsible for all possible negative consequences of Pelosi’s visit.
