Caribbean countries may demand reparations from Britain for the slave trade.

Fifteen Caribbean countries could demand Britain pay at least 206 billion feet of reparations ($269 billion) for damages from the slave trade, the Daily Mail reports.

“A group of 15 Caribbean governments unanimously agreed to consider paying reparations for slavery at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Samoa on October 21,” the publication said.

According to some estimates, countries will demand at least 206 billion pounds from the UK.

In 2023, Patrick Robinson, then a leading judge at the International Court of Justice, said the UK could no longer ignore calls to pay reparations to countries affected by the transatlantic slave trade.
