Blinken announced the upcoming US response to the decision of OPEC and Russia to reduce oil production

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced Washington’s response to the OPEC+ decision to cut oil production.

Thus, the United States is considering a number of options for retaliatory actions against Saudi Arabia, Blinken said.

“We will not do anything that could infringe on our interests. This is the first and most important thing that we will be guided by,” he stressed.

The Secretary of State also called the OPEC+ decision disappointing and short-sighted. He recalled that the global economy is facing the consequences of the pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine. “The supply must match the demand,” Blinken stated.

On October 5, the participating states of the OPEC + agreement at a meeting in Vienna agreed to a significant reduction in oil production from November. Countries will have to reduce production by two million barrels per day from quotas approved in August.
