Blinken and Abbas called for a halt to extremist violence against Palestinians.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed the need to stop “extremist violence” in the West Bank, the Washington Post writes, citing the US State Department.

Blinken and Abbas also “discussed efforts to restore calm and stability in the West Bank, including the need to stop extremist violence against Palestinians and bring those responsible to justice,” the newspaper quoted a State Department statement.

It is noted that Blinken told Abbas that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip should not be subjected to forced displacement, and also reaffirmed the US commitment to delivering humanitarian aid to the enclave and restoring life support systems there.
