US President Joe Biden, at a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky at the White House on Tuesday, said that he had signed a decree allocating a new $200 million aid package to Kyiv.
⠀
The American president clarified that we are talking about the allocation of assistance through the US Department of Defense and he expects that it will “quickly arrive” to Kyiv.
⠀
Zelensky on Tuesday in Washington already met with senators and talked with Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson, after which he headed to the White House to meet with Biden.
⠀
Zelensky’s visit to the US capital comes after Senate Republicans blocked consideration of the White House’s request for funds for Ukraine, Israel and other needs. The House of Representatives is also in no hurry to approve the corresponding project.
⠀
Republicans are demanding changes in approaches to border security, while the White House warned that there are several weeks left, after which the possibilities of assistance to Ukraine will be exhausted, and there are no guarantees of further support.
