Biden admitted that he does not know a possible time frame for a ceasefire in Gaza.

US President Joe Biden admitted that he does not know when a ceasefire will begin in the Gaza Strip, despite the readiness of a corresponding deal between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement together with an international group of negotiators.

“That remains to be seen,” he told White House pool reporters when asked when the Gaza ceasefire would take effect.

As the American leader noted, he is optimistic about the prospects for the parties to reach an agreement and clarified that there remain “a couple of issues” that need to be agreed upon.

A senior US administration official told reporters on Friday that the parties to the Doha talks on a Gaza ceasefire and hostage swap had resolved remaining differences and the deal was now ready to be signed.

The official informed that representatives of the United States and partner countries will meet by the end of next week in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in order to finalize the agreement reached “once and for all.”
