In their efforts to boost touristic sector, Bali provincial authorities have opened its doors to foreign tourists two weeks ago. The next step is a shorter quarantine period to attract travellers.
Bali wants to attract the international travellers who used to be the base of the economy. Now, the international guests are subject to a five-day quarantine period upon arrival in Indonesia at their own expense. Moreover, the local authorities could require a proof of full immunization. All these expenses are on the travellers.
“Let us try to [lessen quarantine period], if possible from five to three days,” Vice Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati noted yesterday. The official also added that the competitors abroad are implementing zero quarantine days, and this is Bali’s consideration for the future.
This includes Thailand, which on Sunday allowed travellers from 17 additional countries to enter the kingdom without quarantine, Coconut reports. After the update, fully-vaccinated tourists from 63 countries may enter Thailand without mandatory quarantine.
The Bali Provincial Government says it has made the recommendation to the central government, but the matter is still up for evaluation at this point, considering the possibility of the emergence of new coronavirus variants, VG Cok Ace believes.
