Azerbaijan proposed introducing sanctions against France.

The Azerbaijani parliament proposed ending all economic relations with France, as well as raising the issue of recognizing the independence of Corsica.

The Committee on International Relations in the Azerbaijani Parliament adopted a statement in response to the document of the French Senate on sanctions against Baku.

“Apply sanctions against France. If discovered, any assets of French officials in Azerbaijan should be frozen. Cease all economic relations with France. All French companies, including Total, should be expelled from Azerbaijan. Ban French companies from participating in government projects. Instruct the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry to take steps to recognize the independence of Kanaka, Maohi Nui and Corsica,” the statement said.

At the end of last year, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that from 2020 to this day, the French leadership has taken a “destructive and provocative” position towards Azerbaijan. A few days ago, the French Senate, with 336 votes in favor and one against, adopted a resolution calling for the introduction of sanctions against Azerbaijan.
