The oil spill occurred in the Iranian waters of the Persian Gulf, in the area of ​​​​the oil pipeline running from the port of Genave in southern Iran to the Iranian island of Khark, Abd al-Rahman Moradzadeh, director general of the Environmental Protection Organization for the Iranian province of Bushehr, said.

“After the discovery of oil slicks in the Persian Gulf on the sea route from Genave to Kharg, the spill was reported to the General Directorate of Ports and Maritime Navigation of Iran, as well as to the oil terminal on Kharg Island to localize the spill,” Moradzadeh said.


He noted that the oil leak occurred on the oil pipeline running from the Iranian port of Genave to the oil terminal located on the island of Kharq. Oil scavengers were sent to the area of ​​the leak, the Iranian official added, to contain the spill.
