An Indian Railway Guard officer shot and killed four people on a train.

At least four people, including a police officer, have died in a shooting by a railroad security constable on a Jaipur-Mumbai bullet train, Western Railways said.

“As a result of … an incident on Jaipur-Mumbai train 12956 escorting a bullet train, Constable Chetan Kumar shot at his escort colleague, Senior Assistant Sub-inspector Tika Ram. The constable who shot his colleague first held the passengers at gunpoint,” it is said in a statement.

 

According to preliminary information, in addition to the assistant sub-inspector, three civilians became victims of the incident. It is noted that after the incident, Kumar tried to escape using the emergency braking of the train, but was arrested by the railway guards, his weapons were confiscated.

Confirming the incident, the railroad security forces said four casualties had been reported, including an assistant sub-inspector, and the accused had been arrested.


The cause of the shooting has not yet been established, an investigation is underway.
