An earthquake occurred off the coast of Peru.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred off the coast of Peru, the country’s Geophysical Institute reports.

The tremors were recorded at 02.05 local time 54 kilometers southwest of the city of Chala, located in the Caraveli province of the Arequipa region. The epicenter lay at a depth of 20 kilometers.

Information about possible casualties and destruction has not yet been received.

A day earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 was reported off the coast of the country. According to the Ministry of Health, at least five people were injured as a result.
