The Afghan Foreign Ministry has appealed to the UN with a request to provide the current government with a place in the world organization, Afghan media report.
⠀
Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, at a meeting with diplomats and journalists at the Foreign Ministry, said that official Kabul “strives for positive relations with all countries, including the United States.”
⠀
“The Islamic Emirate (the self-name of the Taliban political regime) is ready to cooperate with all countries on any issue. May God create such conditions that will allow Afghanistan to take its place, be it in the UN or in any other forum, to express the concerns of our people and put an end to it disasters,” the Tolo TV channel quotes the diplomat as saying.
⠀
According to Stanekzai, Afghanistan’s interim government has no problems with any state and “seeks friendly relations with the entire world, including regional, extra-regional and global powers such as Russia, China and the United States.”
⠀
“We have always conveyed to the major powers that Afghanistan does not want to be in conflict with any country… In addition to the eastern countries that have maintained close ties with us over the past three years, recently European countries have also shown interest in establishing positive relations with the Islamic Emirate,” Stanekzai added.

Since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, no country has yet recognized their government. However, at present, some states maintain constructive relations with it and have established successful interaction.
