A French resident won 130 million euros in the European lottery EuroMillions (“Euromillions”), according to a press release on the lottery’s website.

At the beginning of September, another resident of the country won more than 109 million euros in the EuroMillions lottery.

“France took home the 124th jackpot since the lottery’s launch. Last night, 29 September 2023, the €130 million Superdraw jackpot was won,” it said.

As noted by BFMTV, the prize was the biggest win in France since the beginning of 2023, it was among the ten largest in the history of the lottery.

In July 2022, a UK resident won the largest winnings in the history of the lottery in the EuroMillions lottery – 195 million pounds sterling (almost 23.7 billion rubles).

The first draw of the EuroMillions lottery took place on February 13, 2004 in three countries: France, Spain and the UK. In October 2004, six more countries joined the lottery: Luxembourg, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Ireland and Austria. Winnings are taxed only in Switzerland. One lottery ticket costs two and a half euros. In total, about 200 million people participate in the lottery.
