Belgium will consider sending peacekeepers to Ukraine

Belgium will consider sending its peacekeepers to Ukraine, provided that a lasting and acceptable peace is established between the EU and Ukraine, as well as appropriate international agreements are reached, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevost said in an interview with the Belgian RTL television channel.

“On this basis and on the basis of a clear international mandate, Belgium can participate in a peacekeeping mission,” the minister said.

An extraordinary EU summit will be held in Brussels on Thursday to discuss the role of EU countries in the settlement in Ukraine, as well as possible “security guarantees” for Kiev.
