The village, which was accidentally bombed by a fighter jet during the exercises of South Korea and the United States, is located six kilometers from the training ground, the local newspaper reports.

“The report of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the Parliamentary Defense Committee noted that the scene of the incident is 6 kilometers from the training ground. In addition to damage to the civilian sector, military losses have not yet been recorded,” the newspaper reports.


Earlier it was reported that on Thursday, joint exercises of South Korea and the United States with the participation of the Air Force, the ground forces of the Republic of Korea and the American troops stationed in the country took place in the area of the Seungjin training ground in the city of Pyeongchong, Gyeonggi Province. The Air Force deployed F-35A, F-15K, KF-16 and FA-50 combat aircraft. During the exercise, eight MK-82 bombs were dropped from a KF-16 fighter jet and landed outside the range. One of them is for the village of Nogok. Where the rest of the bombs landed, and whether there was damage, has not yet been reported.


As a result of the accident, 15 people have been injured so far. Two of them were seriously injured. The bomb also damaged five residential buildings, one warehouse, a church, a greenhouse and a truck.
