China hopes for a fair peace agreement on Ukraine

China hopes to achieve a fair and binding peace agreement on Ukraine, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.

The meeting took place on the evening of February 15 on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

“China supports all efforts aimed at achieving peace and hopes to achieve a just, lasting and binding peace agreement acceptable to all parties,” Wang Yi said, quoted on his website by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Sunday.

He added that China will continue to “play a constructive role in the political settlement of the crisis and the achievement of peace.”

At the same time, he noted that the Friends of Peace platform, initiated by China and the countries of the Global South, will continue to work on building consensus to facilitate negotiations and the peace process.
