Denmark said that Trump would not receive Greenland.

The Foreign Ministry of Denmark Lars Lyokke Rasmussen said that US President Donald Trump would not receive Greenland.

“Trump will not receive Greenland. Greenland is Greenland. Residents of Greenland are a people, including from the point of view of international law. It is protected by international law and the UN Charter,” Rasmussen said.

Rasmussen emphasized that, ultimately, its inhabitants should decide the fate of the island.

US President Donald Trump on January 7, even before the post of head of state, said Greenland should become part of the United States, and emphasized its strategic importance for the national security and protect the “free world”, including from China and Russia. Prime Minister Greenland Mout Egede, for his part, said that the island is not sold and will never be sold. At the same time, Trump refused to make a promise not to use military force to establish control of Greenland.

At the end of 2024, Trump called the “absolute necessity” for the United States to own Greenland, so he commented on his decision to appoint a new American ambassador to the ex-USE of the United States in Sweden and entrepreneur Ken Haueri.

Greenland until 1953 was a colony of Denmark. It remains part of the kingdom, but in 2009 she received autonomy with the possibility of self -government and independent choice in domestic politics. In 2019, a series of publications appeared in the media that Trump was considering the possibility of buying Greenland.
