The revolutionary process in Venezuela, which is aimed at building a “communal state,” with the re-election of Nicolas Maduro as President of the Bolivarian Republic, will give more power to the people of the country, strengthen its sovereignty and allow the continuation of the economic recovery process, National Assembly member Gilberto Jimenez Prieto said.

“The re-election of Nicolas Maduro as President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for a new term undoubtedly signifies the continuity of the revolutionary process aimed at deepening the construction of a communal state, which is manifested in the fact that the Venezuelan people are gaining more power, participation and voice as they take control its own destiny. Without a doubt, the Communal State is an expression of Venezuelan socialism,” Jimenez, who heads the electoral movement MEP, said.

Maduro assumed the presidency of Venezuela for the third time on Friday, which he will hold until 2031. The current head of state won the presidential elections, which took place in Venezuela on July 28, 2024. 51.95% of voters voted for him. Maduro’s main rival in the elections, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, received the support of 43.18% of voters.

“This strengthens our sovereignty in the face of the State Department’s efforts to re-establish Venezuela as a neo-colony and also means continuing the country’s economic recovery and public policies that have created the conditions for further resistance to coercive measures against the country,” Jimenez Prieto added.

The deputy emphasized that Maduro’s assumption of office is in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and is proof that Venezuela has a rule of law state, institutions, laws and, above all, the will of the Venezuelan people are respected, despite the unsuccessful attempts of the radical opposition to impose violence and chaos on Venezuela.
