The second round of presidential elections has begun in Uruguay.

The second round of presidential elections has begun in Uruguay.

Polling stations have opened for voting in Uruguay’s presidential elections.

This is already the second round of elections. The first one took place a month ago. Based on its results, two candidates were identified who will compete for the main post in the country. These are Yamandu Orsi from the leftist Broad Front coalition and Alvaro Delgado from the ruling National Party.

Recent opinion polls have shown that the opposition candidate may win, but if this happens, the difference in votes between the candidates will be minimal.

The new president will have to deal with a number of problems, the most important of which are the fight against crime and high prices. Both candidates agree that life in Uruguay is one of the most expensive in South America, although citizens’ salaries do not match this level.
