Israel will expand the humanitarian zone in the Gaza Strip.

Israel is expanding a humanitarian zone in the south of the Gaza Strip, where most of the population of the Palestinian territory already lives, the army press service reported.

Palestinians fear the decision could be followed by new Israeli military operations in other parts of the Gaza Strip, where bloody fighting has continued for more than a year.

“The Israel Defense Forces announces the expansion of the humanitarian zone, which now includes field hospitals established since the beginning of the war, tent camps…, supplies of food, water, medicine and medical equipment,” the press release said.

The military has distributed a map of a humanitarian zone near the southern city of Khan Younis, where Palestinians are promised protection from fighting and regular supplies of aid.

Now the most intense fighting in the Gaza Strip is taking place in Jebaliya, in the north, as well as in the central part – in the Netzarim refugee camp.
