Iran has resumed flights that were canceled the day before due to the escalation of tensions in the Middle East region after Iran’s missile attack on Israel, Jafar Yazerlu, the official representative of the country’s Civil Aviation Organization said.

A day earlier, he said that flights throughout Iran were canceled until Thursday morning due to the situation in the Middle East.

“After receiving confidence that flight conditions are favorable and safe, and the end (of the period – ed.) of the imposed restrictions, airlines are allowed to operate flights today from 5 a.m.,” Yazerlu said.

On October 1, Iran subjected Israel to massive rocket fire for the second time in history, calling it an act of self-defense. The Israeli military says about 180 ballistic missiles were fired, most of which were intercepted. Videos on social networks captured the aftermath of shells falling in different areas of Israel. The shelling, according to Israeli authorities, caused no casualties among the country’s citizens. A number of media outlets reported the death of one person, presumably a Palestinian from the Gaza Strip, in the West Bank.

The Iranians claim that the missiles hit Israeli military targets; the Israelis call the damage “minimal.” They promise to strike back, and the United States to come to the aid of its main Middle Eastern ally.
